Results Round-up:

Jacqui Mahon made the journey to Dublin and enjoyed a good run at the Fastlane Half Marathon on a warm Sunday morning in the capital.

John Scott and Anne Brady took on a shorter trip on Saturday for the Athlone 10 mile with both achieving personal bests. John crossed the finish line in Clonown for fourth overall with Anne claiming a top-ten placing in the women’s race.

Great fun was had and lots of medals were won at the Juvenile Inter County track and field in Tullamore last Friday evening at which we had 28 of our young athletes taking part…. view photo gallery

On Thursday, several club members were in action at the Connacht Schools finals in Athlone with some achieving podium positions and qualification for the upcoming All-Irelands.

Highlights included double success for Emma Brennan (Moyne CS) winning both the Inter 1500m Steeplechase and the Mile. Emma’s brother Conor took the win in the Minor Walk while Holly Rogers, of Scoil Mhuire Strokestown, crossed the line first in the Senior 100m.

Mercy Ballymahon’s Robin Og Murphy was second in the Inter Walk while schoolmate Sian Gallagher was third in the Senior 200m. Over the middle-distance events, Oisín Dillon of Lanesboro CC placed second in the Junior 800m and Sophia Carey (Moyne CS) was also runner-up this time in the Minor 1500m. At the field events, Conor Meadows took second place in the Junior Shot while another Moyne CS pupil, Brayden Francis, was second in the Inter Javelin.

Seán Grealy, of St. Mel’s College, placed second in the Inter 100m with a personal best 11.57 and also clocked a personal best over 200m when placing fourth. He was then back on the track at Sunday’s AAI May Open meet in Santry. Two strong runs at the 100m for Seán providing good track time ahead of the All-Ireland schools.
